Chairmen of Democratic, Republican Parties in 12th Join John Stone For Congress Economic Forum
Tony Center, Dennis Coxwell join host committee for bipartisan forum with renowned economist Dr. Pat Choate
(Savannah, GA) – Former Ford Administration senior economic advisor and Reform Party Vice-Presidential Candidate Dr. Pat Choate will unveil a non-partisan alternative to the $700 billion Wall Street bailout package during a midday news conference in Savannah for John Stone for Congress, on Friday, October 17.
A financial forum on the plan following the news conference will be hosted by 12th District Democratic Party Chair Tony Center and 12th District Republican Chair Dennis Coxwell, in addition to State Senator Regina Thomas (D-Savannah), State Senator Eric Johnson (R-Savannah), former U.S. Rep. J. Roy Rowland, MD (D-Dublin), and other elected officials and community leaders.
“We need solutions beyond what the two parties are offering,” says 12th District Republican Congressional Candidate John Stone. “We can no longer afford to be just against someone else’s plans, we have to start providing real alternatives to the bad economic policies and practices of Washington and New York. Dr. Choate has developed specific policies that can provide those better alternatives for the next Congress in January. With input from folks in our district, we can start developing a responsible plan to repeal the bad legislation that was rushed into law this month with a real financial reform plan that will benefit the entire country, not just Wall Street and foreign investors.”
Dr. Choate holds a doctorate in Economics from the University of Oklahoma, and is a former economics professor at George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management. He has authored over 200 publications on diverse public policy issues such as U.S. competitiveness in world trade, politics, and education. Dr. Choate was director of the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration Office of Economic Research under President Gerald Ford, and was the Reform Party’s Vice Presidential Candidate in the 1996 Presidential election.
The press conference and forum will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 at the Oglethorpe Inn, 7110 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah. Seating will be limited. For more information, contact Sarah Harper Scott at 706-793-9800 or .
